The Grand Falls-Windsor Heritage Society was formed in 1997 by a group of interested citizens who felt it was important to take the necessary steps to preserve the records, photographs, memories, buildings, and cultural treasures that represent the unique history of the town and its people. In February, 1998, the Grand Falls-Windsor Heritage Society became incorporated. The charter members of the Society are Mont Lingard, Jim Dobson, Everett Bishop, Bob Thompson, and Walt Davis. The mandate of the society is to promote and assist in the preservation of the town's history, including the display and preservation of historical artifacts, the promotion of the development of historical sites within the town, and the development of public education programs on matters related to the town's history. The long-term goal of the society is to obtain a permanent home for its administration and collections. Currently, the Heritage Society offices are located in the Town Square Mall on High Street. |
